the night included a whopping ten poets (two more than a regulation slam, but who cares?), email swapping, banjo music, a trombone battle, and they baked us a cake, to top it all off! they even paid for our gas to get home! what a bunch of nice people!

okay, enough with the exclamation points, on with business.

minot was pretty excited to have a poetry slam, and we found out that there’s some pretty insane talent up there. we’re trying to bring the champ from last night, joe davis, down to the capitol city for some slams and performances by his poetry duo, True Soul Brothaz.

i traded one of my books for one of their albums. i haven’t listened just yet, but i’m damn excited.

anyway, they set the date for their next slam. it’ll be may 8th at 7pm, so don’t forget!

we’d love for you guys to head up and participate or watch. maybe they’ll make you cake, too. (it was pretty damn good cake. seriously.)

i am very excited but a little bit nervous. i”ve heard, though, from a very reliable source, that the minot art scene is pretty active and really hip, and i am pretty pumped to show them what we’ve been working on, too.

hello hello, cats and kittens!

have an illegitimate literature baby that you want to show off? we are still looking for poets. there is a $10 fee for competing poets, and we can have up to eight. first and second (and maybe third place?) each take home some cash, depending on the number of poets who enter.

we also have a guest host, mr. chris smotherman, who is all about the bismarck poetry scene. he helped start the first wave of it ten years ago, and we want to make it a regular occurance again. he’s a pretty rad guy, and he is very excited.

the more poets, the bigger the prize, the more intense the slam is. it is free to watch, so you have nothing to lose by going. help make this slam our biggest yet!

we have two poets booked so far, and three really big maybes.
